Launch of Food Systems Summit Post-Conference Report
How do we achieve a resilient food systems transformation?
For two days in October 2022, 200 food- and health experts met to discuss the transformation of our food systems to promote our and the planet’s health. The summit's objective was to contribute to the dialogue on how to practically follow up on recommendations from the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit, but with a particular emphasis on food systems’ impact on health. The dialogues resulted in various recommendations for research and policy proposals concerning spatial planning, livestock development, farmers’ voices in policy dialogues, and context-relevant and equity-focused food environment transformation strategies. The conclusions from the intensive dialogue have been gathered in a post-conference policy briefing kit.

Dr Annsofie Wahlström is Program Director at SLU Future Food. Annsofie has a PhD in Animal Science at SLU and has since worked with research and development in industry. Her research and work experience revolves around private Swedish companies and collaborations and international companies with a focus on diet and nutrition for animals, where she previously worked at Lantmännen, Cobb Europe and Zinpro Corporation.
Dr Line Gordon is Director of the Stockholm Resilience Center. Her research integrates insights from resilience thinking, land use change, food systems, hydrology, and social-ecological systems. Her work includes extensive experience in leading international research projects, and she has led, and still contributes to, several research projects in the Sahel region including research on ecosystem services, livelihoods and social-ecological resilience assessments. This research has been funded by grants from SIDA, the Swedish Research Council, CGIAR and the French National Research Agency (ANR). She currently co-leads the food theme in the Wallenberg Foundation funded Stanford collaboration programmes on ‘Natural capital, resilience and biosphere stewardship’ and ‘Fundamental research in biosphere-based sustainability science’. She is on the board of directors of the EAT Foundation, a science-based global platform for food system transformation. She was also one of the authors of the EAT-Lancet Commission, and on its Executive Editorial Team.
Dr Karin Artursson is scientific director at the National Veterinary Institute (SVA), adjunct professor at the Department of Biomedicine and Veterinary Public Health Sciences at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), and Programme Committee chair at Uppsala Health Summit 2022. Karin's research area has focused on studies of Staphylococcus aureus in udder inflammation with the ambition to link the entire chain from genetics to clinic. She has also worked with the development of methods for communication around infection control and other One Health issues.

Dr Marta Hugas served as Chief Scientist at the European Food Safety Authority until 1st March 2022. The position addressed the development of EFSA’s scientific strategic direction; acting as focal point on scientific matters and facilitating the understanding of science; fostering scientific cooperation as well as leveraging connections and networks for promoting EFSA’s research priorities. Currently Marta is serving as an independent international expert advising scientific bodies, research programming bodies and policy makers on food safety, food systems and on sustainability. She´s as well lecturing at several Master courses at the University of Barcelona, Autonomous University of Barcelona and University of Girona.

Nicole Rocque studied Economics at the University of Warwick, UK. Prior to joining GFI India, Nicole worked at Invest India, the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency of the Government of India, as a primary advisor to life science groups' looking to set-up or expand their presence in India. As a special project nomination via Invest India, she worked directly under the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India to launch the national innovation commercialization initiative AGNIi as an in-road to greater cooperation between industry, government labs and academic institutions. Nicole brings experience in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and technology commercialization to promote innovation in the plant-based, cultivated meat, eggs and dairy industry in India. Nicole is passionate about climate action and public health, which has led her to GFI India, in the hope to shape an Indian response to the biggest challenges of our lifetime.
